TRACES is the online platform of the European Commission for health certification. To use it, entities need digital certification according to eIDAS — And that's where Digitalsign comes in.
It is necessary to import animals, products of animal origin, food and plants into the European Union. It also covers intra-EU trade and EU exports of animals and certain products of animal origin.
The challenge:
certify global import/export to and from the European Union, in accordance with the EIDA Regulation, in order to optimise the digital onboarding of exporting/importing entities via the European Commission online platform for health and phytosanitary certification– Traces NT.
The Solution: Certification and IDAS
The solution was to issue qualified electronic seals for each importing or exporting entity through the DigitalSign Partner Portal. There, organizations begin the onboarding with the completion of a request. For validation, they have four methods of choice: video call, portability of another QTSP, signature with qualified digital certificate, or document validation by post.
Qualified electronic seals shall ensure the authenticity and integrity of the documents. In addition, they have full legal value throughout the European Union under eIDAS. Therefore, they are ideal for certifying health documents circulating between countries. Thus, TRACES ensures confidence in each certificate issued.
The Result:
Since the beginning of the project in 2022, about 302 organizations have successfully completed DigitalSign's onboarding. Each chose the most convenient validation method for its reality. Thus, they obtained e-labels (eSEALs) quickly and simply, issued by DigitalSign according to the EIDAS Regulation. Thus, they were able to certify, on time and anywhere, critical documents on the TRACES NT platform.
