The Future of European Digital Identity Trust Services
and eID Forum

In Estonia, DigitalSign has joined more than 800 participants to monitor the implementation of EUDI Wallets and European Business Wallet, and the 18th CA Day trust service audit.

DigitalSign was present in Tallinn, Estonia, on 15 and 16 September, at the 12th Trust Services and eID Forum and at the 18th CA Day, two of the reference meetings of the European digital identity ecosystem and trust services. Thus, the company was represented by Serafim Gomes.

In addition, held at the Kulturikatel – Tallinn Creative Hub, the two events gathered more than 800 participants, both face-to-face and online. Among them were, for example, policy-makers, trusted service providers, conformity assessment bodies, supervisory bodies and European and national institutions.

The Future of European Digital Identity under debate

First, Trust Services and eID Forum is organised by ENISA, the European Union Cybersecurity Agency, in collaboration with the European Commission since 2015. In fact, today is the main meeting point for those working under the EIDAS Regulation.

In turn, the agenda of this edition focused on the implementation of the new European Digital Identity Framework, with emphasis on:

  • the state of play of the implementation of European Digital Identity Cards (EUDI Wallets) in the Member States;
  • European Business Wallet, a new tool to simplify and at the same time make interactions between companies in the EU safer;
  • the articulation of the digital identity framework with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA);
  • success cases and trust service challenges;
  • the evolution of technical standardisation associated with the eIDAS framework;
  • finally, the potential effects of post-quantum encryption on digital identity.

CA Day: Trust, Audit and Global Ecosystems

On 16 September, the 18th CA Day, organised by D-Trust in cooperation with TÜV NORD CERT, continued the debate on the same site. The work focused mainly on auditing trust services in the context of EUDI Wallets, identification services and digital trust beyond the borders of the European Union.

Therefore, for DigitalSign, the presence in these forums allows us to closely monitor regulatory and technical developments, as well as exchange experiences with other qualified providers and with entities that define the future of the sector.

Finally, in the year it celebrates 20 years of activity, DigitalSign reinforces its commitment to monitor the transformation of the European digital identity market. In other words, the objective is to continue to offer regulated sector organisations in Portugal, Spain and Europe safe, interoperable and compliant solutions.
