Digital notary

The DigitalSign Digital Certificate SA was present at the 5th International Congress of the Portuguese Notary, which took place on 9 and 10 October at the Montebelo Monastery of Alcobaça. The company was represented by Marcos Santos and Francisco Rodrigues.
With the theme "20 Years of the Order of Notaries for Citizens' Service", the congress joined not only notaries of Portugal, but also international delegations and political leaders in the area of Justice. Firstly, the opening session was attended by the Minister of Justice, Rita Alarcão Júdice. In turn, the closure was attended by the Deputy Minister and the State Reform, Gonçalo Saraiva Matias, and the Secretary of State for Justice, Ana Luísa Machado.
In addition, the coincidence of dates gives special significance to this participation: just as the Order of Notaries, DigitalSign also celebrates 20 years in 2026. In fact, along this route, the company has built with the Order a long-standing partnership based on a common goal. In other words, the objective is to bring the security and public faith of the notary act to the digital world, with all legal guarantees.
During the two working days, topics such as acts and general assemblies at a distance and successions, as well as digital heritage, artificial intelligence and electronic identity were discussed. In short, the message that went through the congress was clear: technology must be at the service of the notary and strengthen the trust of the citizens, without replacing the presence and the human judgment that value the notarial act.
In addition, one of the highlights of the closure was the intervention of Bastonário, Jorge Batista da Silva, who argued that notaries are prepared to take on new competences. The Bastonário also expressed the availability of the Order to feed the Portuguese digital portfolio with attributes verified by notaries. Also on the same occasion was marked the publication of the ordinance that allows notaries to issue handouts.
Thus, it is precisely in the connection between notarial trust and digital identity that DigitalSign acts. As a Qualified Trust Services Provider accredited under the eIDAS Regulation, the company provides a set of solutions:
